About Mock Examinations
Booking & preparation
How long does the session last?
All of our sessions run for two hours. During the session, your child will take two tests unique to us and closely aligned to the 11+ examination they will be taking. Please ensure you turn up at fifteen minutes before the session starts so your child can be shown to their desk
Which test will they take?
Just let us know if they will be taking CSSE or CEM or what school they are applying to.
Where are the mock sessions happening?
This summer, all of our sessions are taking place at Boreham Village Hall, ideally situated for Chelmsford but just a 30-minute drive from Southend or Colchester.
Can I go in with my child?
No. The reason for this is simple. We want these sessions to be as close to the real thing as possible. Also, it's unfair and disruptive to other candidates. This request also applies during the 15-minute break.
What should my child bring?
As with the actual examinations, candidates should bring a pen, pencil, ruler and eraser. You are welcome to send a snack and a drink that your child can consume during the break between tests. No nuts, please!
Can my child attend more than one session?
Absolutely. Often this is the best way to build confidence. Of course, every paper is written by us so it will be different every time. Of course, every session will include a 15-minute Zoom feedback session.
What's in the tests?
Although the different tests vary, they will all contain aspects of maths and English, alongside verbal reasoning and sometimes non-verbal reasoning.
Should my child do anything to prepare?
No, they should try and get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast. We'll take care of the rest!
My child has an allergy/uses an EpiPen.
We have a strict no-nut policy. Please do let us know if they have allergies, or require medicine. We cannot administer any medication, unfortunately.
On the day
How do I book?
Just email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us on 07385 918 750.
How much do the tests cost?
Each two-hour session including two hand-marked papers with 15 mins personal feedback costs £75.
What test will my child be taking?
Just let us know when you book. If they are taking the 11+ in Essex, they will be taking the CSSE Papers (except girls taking CCHS who will take the CEM papers). If it's a private school, that's fine, just let us know which one and we will be able to advise.
Aftercare & Support
Once your child's mock examination session is finished, our job is only just starting. All papers will be carefully hand-marked by a former private school headteacher with nearly twenty years of experience who will carefully prepare a 15-minute feedback session on Zoom or telephone and advise on the next steps.
If you book two or more sessions, we will make sure your child's feedback builds on that given after the initial papers so you can really start to see their progress.
Whatever route you finally decide upon, we can help you along the way.
